DESS welcomes Dr Mats Christiansen as a new KOL

At DESS®, we are pleased to announce the incorporation of Dr Mats Christiansen as a new Key Opinion Leader (KOL). With more than two decades of experience in implantology and a strong commitment to clinical innovation, Dr Christiansen will contribute his knowledge and vision to continue driving excellence in digital and restorative dentistry.

Clinical training and professional background

Graduated in Dentistry from Malmö/Lund University, with postgraduate diplomas in Oral Surgery (University of Gothenburg) and Implantology (University of Malmö), Dr Christiansen has dedicated more than 20 years to implantology and oral surgery.

Since placing his first implant in 2003, he has performed over 10,000 implant procedures, establishing himself as one of the most experienced clinicians in Scandinavia.

Throughout his career, he has collaborated with major brands such as Straumann, Nobel Biocare and Neoss, even participating in product development and research teams. He was also one of the first in the world to test the TRIOS scanner from 3Shape.

Collaboration with DESS

Dr Christiansen has been working with DESS prosthetic components and implants for more than three years, particularly with the Active HEX Implant, where he has already placed over 200 implants. This experience makes him a benchmark for demonstrating the clinical performance of our products in daily practice.

Teaching vocation and international presence

In addition to his clinical activity, Dr Christiansen has been an experienced lecturer since 2004. He has delivered courses and lectures nationally and internationally for prestigious institutions and companies such as Nobel Biocare, Straumann, ITI, Henry Schein, Neoss and many more, with presentations in the UK, Norway, Denmark and Sweden.

At DESS, he will contribute with webinars, lectures and specialised training, sharing his clinical expertise with colleagues worldwide.

Dr Christiansen is currently the owner and director of the Tandvårdsakademin Ystad clinic (Sweden), a leading centre with six dentists working with an advanced digital approach. The clinic integrates intraoral scanners from 3Shape, as well as 3D printers from Formlabs and Sprintray, ensuring modern, precise dentistry focused on the best patient care.
