ANGLEBase®: Angulated Ti Bases for Screw-Retained Restorations

The ideal implant position does not always allow an optimal screw access channel emergence. Anatomical limitations, available bone volume, or surgical considerations may influence implant positioning, compromising the orientation of the screw access channel and limiting restorative design flexibility.

DESS® ANGLEBase® has been developed to overcome these restorative challenges by allowing screw access channel correction of up to 25°, while maintaining 360° of rotational freedom.

The ANGLEBase® system has now evolved with the introduction of Thinner ANGLEBase®, a new solution specifically developed for narrow restorative platforms. Its reduced 3.85 mm prosthetic platform provides greater restorative design flexibility by optimizing the emergence profile and facilitating a more gradual implant- restoration transition, while preserving all the clinical advantages of the ANGLEBase® system.

ANGLEBase®: DESS® Angulated Solution for Screw-Retained Restorations

The implant position does not always allow an ideal screw access channel orientation. In these situations, angulated screw channel correction becomes a key restorative strategy to optimize function and esthetics, preserve the advantages of screw-retained restorations, and expand restorative design possibilities.

Developed for these clinical situations, DESS® ANGLEBase® combines precise screw channel correction with mechanical reliability and seamless integration into contemporary digital workflows.

Thanks to the dynamic screw and the Torx® Ball screwdriver, ANGLEBase® allows for correction of the screw channel’s angulation up to 25°, while maintaining 360° of rotational freedom and enabling the recommended torque to be applied safely even at the maximum angle.

All ANGLEBase® connections are available within the DESS® CAD libraries for Exocad®, 3Shape® and Dental Wings®, enabling straightforward integration into established digital workflows.

ANGLEBase® Features

ANGLEBase® has been developed to provide angulated screw access correction without compromising restorative design. Its geometry and technical features have been optimized to enhance both the mechanical performance and esthetic integration of implant-supported restorations while maintaining compatibility with contemporary digital workflows.

Key features include:

  • Manufactured from Grade V ELI Titanium and supplied with the definitive prosthetic screw.
  • Angulated screw access correction of up to 25°, with 360° of rotational freedom to select the most favorable restorative orientation.
  • Gold anodized surface, designed to improve esthetic integration, particularly in highly demanding esthetic situations or when soft tissues are thin.
  • SelectGrip® technology applied to the bonding surface, increasing the mechanical retention between the Ti Base and the restoration by up to 500% compared with an untreated surface.
  • Parallel-walled bonding surface with a 0.02 mm or 0.045 mm cement gap space, designed to optimize restoration stability and cement retention.
  • Available in multiple platform diameters and gingival heights, in both engaging and non-engaging configurations, making it suitable for single-unit restorations, multiple-unit restorations, and full-arch rehabilitations.

New Thinner ANGLEBase®

More Space for Restorative Design. Greater Control Over the Emergence Profile.

In restorations on narrow implant platforms, the development of an ideal emergence profile is often influenced by multiple restorative and anatomical factors, including implant position, platform diameter, peri-implant soft tissue thickness, available restorative space, and the need to correct the screw access channel. Together, these factors can limit restorative design possibilities and compromise both the esthetic and functional outcome.

To address these clinical challenges, DESS® has developed Thinner ANGLEBase®, an evolution of the ANGLEBase® system specifically designed to optimize the implant-restoration transition in narrow restorative platforms while providing greater restorative flexibility.

Thinner ANGLEBase® preserves all the clinical advantages of the ANGLEBase® system—including screw access channel correction of up to 25°, 360° rotational freedom, SelectGrip® technology, a gold anodized surface, and full compatibility with digital workflows—while incorporating a new design specifically optimized for reduced-diameter restorative platforms.

What Does Thinner ANGLEBase® Offer?

Optimized Emergence Profile

The reduced 3.85 mm prosthetic platform creates a more progressive transition between the implant and the restoration, facilitating the development of more natural emergence profiles and improved integration with the surrounding peri-implant tissues.

New Gingival Heights

Available in 0.8 mm and 1.5 mm gingival heights to better accommodate different peri-implant soft tissue thicknesses. For Neodent® GM, the range is further expanded with an additional 2.5 mm gingival height.

Enhanced Bonding Interface

The interface height has been increased from 3.0 mm to 3.3 mm, providing a larger bonding surface between the Ti Base and the restoration to optimize cement retention.

Dual Flat Geometry

The new dual flat design enhances mechanical stability while increasing cement retention by 23%, helping minimize rotational displacement and micromovement of the restoration.
