DESS® Drills for Active Hex implants

DESS ® Dental drills for Active Hex implants are used with external irrigation and are available in three lengths: 28mm, 33mm, and 36mm, and eight different diameters. They are made of stainless steel and coated with Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC), a carbon layer that gives them greater resistance to corrosion during sterilisation processes, resistance, and a low coefficient of friction, which increases the longevity of the drills. In addition, its active part includes a laser marking representing the different lengths of the dental implants to guide the dentist during drilling.

How to use DESS® drills with Active Hex implants

  1. Performs an in-and-out movement and pierces the bone for 1-2 seconds.
  2. Move the drill up without stopping the handpiece motor to allow irrigation to remove residues.
  3. Proceed until the desired depth reference line is reached.
  4. Screw taps are available for dense bone situations, to avoid excessive torque during insertion of the implant.

Refer to the instructions for use to determine the drilling protocol, depending on the quality of the bone.
